Testing Ghost’s Mastodon integration on Laravel Cloud
Can a Ghost post published on Laravel Cloud reach Mastodon? We’re trying a real follow, a fresh article, and a reply back.
We’re experimenting with running Ghost on Laravel Cloud and exploring how its social-web features connect a self-hosted publication to Mastodon.
Discovery is already promising: Ed found this publication from his phpsocial account and followed it using the Toot iOS client. Our public ActivityPub endpoint now reports one follower.
This post is the next step: can a newly published Ghost article travel across the fediverse and appear in that follower’s Mastodon timeline? We’re publishing it on the website, not sending an email newsletter. If you’re reading this in Mastodon, its arrival is the evidence we’re looking for.
Try liking or replying to this post. We’ll then look for the interaction in Ghost to explore whether communication works in both directions.
This is a throwaway feasibility experiment, not a production publication. Ghost’s discovery endpoints and its hosted ActivityPub service are connected through our experimental Cloud proxy; delivery to an independent Mastodon account is what we’re checking now.
